As part of the 2nd phase (October 2021-September 2022) activities of SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh titled Support COVID-19, on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, necessary Eid food has been distributed in different areas of Osmaninagar and Balaganj upazilas of Sylhet district. Mr. Swapan Kumar Chakraborty, Upazila Secondary Education Officer, Osmaninagar Upazila, Sylhet inaugurated the program at SOS Children’s Village Sylhet premises on Sunday. The event was presided over by Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali, Director, SOS Children’s Village Sylhet and conducted by Mr. Tanbir Ahmed, Officer-Program and In-charge, SOS Social Center Sylhet.
Later, Mr. Waliullah Badrul, Chairman, Osmanpur Union Parishad, Mr. Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (ASI) Osmaninagar Police Station, Sylhet and Director of SOS Children’s Village Sylhet were present at the food distribution function in Mominpur area of Osmanpur Union. At the same food items were also distributed in Banigaon and Sonapur areas of Boaljur Union, under Balagonj Upazila.
The food items have been distributed among 495 families from the Family Strengthening and kinship care programs in the two upazilas maintaining proper physical distance. The food pack containing 1) Boiled rice – 10 kg, 2). Polau rice 02 kg, 3). Soybean oil 02 lbs., 4). Salt – 01 kg, 5). Lentils – 02 kg, 6). Onion – 02 kg, 6). 200 g of powdered milk – 01 packet, 6). Sugar – 01 kg, 9) Muri – 1 kg, 10) Lachcha semai 03 packets, 11) Chhola – 01 kg.
It is noted that SOS Children’s Village Sylhet has been working to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 to follow the guidelines of the World Health Organization and direction of government of Bangladesh. Considering the overall situation, SOS Children’s Village Sylhet has taken special activities for the beneficiaries and has already successfully completed the first phase Project.
