Day after premier Sheikh Hasina blasted Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus in parliament, finance minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said the tax rebates enjoyed by the Grameen Bank founder should be investigated.
“It’s a difficult proposition. However, Dr Muhammad Yunus’ Grameen Bank took advantage of a number of tax rebates. Those should be investigated,” Muhith told newsmen at his ministry when his attention was drawn to the prime minister’s remarks on Yunus.
“I don’t want to say anything about how the money came. It’s the responsibility for the finance minister to take necessary steps,” she said.
