Sports Desk
Host Bangladesh national Rollball men’s team secured fourth place in the fourth Rollball World Cup losing the place decider to Kenya by 3-1 goals on Wednesday at the Indoor Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka.
After the women’s early exodus from the event from the second round, the nation was relying on the men’s team and they also disappointed the fans losing the semi-finals and the place decider as well.
The Bengal boys recently moved to the last four beating Nepal by 6-3 goals on Tuesday. They maintained their winning spree until the semi-finals.
In the semis, Bangladesh lost to Iran by 11-3 goals.
However, the thing that quite faded the colour of the tournament was an action of the annoyed Bangladesh national Rollball team coach Shunil Dhage during the semi-final match against Iran.
It was at the eleventh hour of the match when Bangladesh striker Hriday mocked the Iranian custodian and the Persian coach Reza Sheikh Jafari reacted at this by pushing Hriday. After that Bangladesh coach picked a quarrel with the Iranian coach and slapped him at one point.
The referee then showed Bangladesh coach a red card and sent him out of the ground right away, the action of the Bangladesh coach raised question.
It’s said that the host boys were shocked at the sudden happenings and they failed to perform accordingly in the place decider later.
The coach, however, later apologized for his behaviour.
