150 including ex-whip sued over killing youth in Cox’s Bazar

A murder case has been filed here against 150 people including the former whip, district council chairman, and poura mayor in Cox’s Bazar in connection with the death of an unidentified youth during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Shelim Mia filed the case with Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station on Friday night, said Rakibujjaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, today.
The accused in the case are Chairman of Cox’s Bazar District Council Shahinul Haque Marshal, former Sadar Upazila Chairman Kaisarul Haque Jeweel, Cox’s Bazar Poura Chhatra League President Hasan Tarek, Cox’s Bazar Poura Mayor Mahabubur Rahaman Chowdhury, President of Cox’s Bazar District Unit Chhatra League Saddam Hossain, Secretary of Cox’s Bazar district unit Chhatra League Maruf Adnan, Penal Mayor of the Municipality Salauddin Shetu, former Chhatra League President Eastiaque Ahammed Joy, former Member of Parliament (MP) and Whip Saimum Srawer Komol, General Secretary of the district unit of Awami League Mujibur Rahaman, Vice-president of the district unit of Chhatra League Main Uddin, Kuruskul Union Parishad Chairman Shajahan Siddiqui and unknown 100-150 people.
According to the first information report (FIR) of the case, the activists of the anti-discrimination student movement were holding a protest rally on August 4.
The case also mentioned that the accused attacked and fired on the activists as they were returning after the procession in the Gunugastala area of the district.
During the clash, an unidentified youth was killed on the spot.
