Due to heavy rains and mountain torrents coming down from upstream, the Dholai river defense dam has broken in several places, resulting in severe flooding in Kamalganj, several thousand people have been cut off from water. According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, 100 hectores of Aush and 3 thousand hectores of Aman crops and vegetable fields were destroyed in the flood.

About 6,500 farmers of the upazila are affected.

In addition, Chhaiakhali Haor of Kamalganj Sadar Union, Keolar Haor area of ​​Patanushar Union is the lowest and the farmers there have been affected the most due to permanent flood water. Also, due to lack of Aman seedlings, farmers are collecting seedlings from neighboring upazilas at higher prices.

Farmers Masud Mia, Samsu Mia, Abul Khair said that the flood started a few days after planting the Aman seedlings. The Aman seedlings planted on the land rotted due to being under the flood water. Now, even if the flood water recedes, there is no time to cultivate again. Besides fertilizers. , the money that will be spent on seeds and labor wages is also difficult to collect.

Without government cooperation it is impossible to turn around, now the situation of many farmers is like them.

Kamalganj Agriculture Officer Jayanto Kumar Roy told this correspondent that 6,500 farmers of the upazila have been affected by the flood. The list of the affected farmers has been made. The seeds of Aman 75 and Bina-17 varieties will be supplied to the farmers soon. The farmer can recover the loss.
