The recent floods in Bangladesh have wrought unimaginable devastation, leaving over 5.7 million people affected and countless families homeless. Entire communities have been submerged, with many losing not just their homes but also their livelihoods and cherished possessions.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, the resilient people of Bangladesh have mobilized to address initial relief needs. But during these days, eleven districts – Feni, Cumilla, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Chattogram, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur and Cox’s Bazar – have been severely affected by the recent floods. More than one million and 200 thousand families have been suffering from scarcity of clean water, which has raised a major concern in the areas, posing severe health risks and potentially leading to the spread of diseases. So medical care and support are something they desperately need.

In this circumstance, like many others, Huawei Bangladesh has also come forward to support the cause. Huawei has signed an MoU with Obhizatrik Foundation, a non-profit organization, and handed over significant funds to aid flood-affected people with medical camps and houses.

Pan Junfeng, President of Huawei South Asia Region & CEO of Huawei Bangladesh said, “We, the Huawei family, are deeply saddened by the unimaginable loss amidst the devastating floods in Bangladesh. We know, that no amount of aid can erase the pain or console those who have lost everything. But as we are not only a company, but also a responsible corporate member of this society; we feel the need to stand alongside the people of Bangladesh in this challenging journey of recovery. With that inspiration, we have partnered to provide medical services and rehabilitation to group of affected people.”

The donated funds will be utilized in two phases. In the first phase, medical camps in a few flood shelter centers and vessels will be established at the affected area. The medical camps will offer doctors’ advice, medicines, water purification kits, clean water, and other necessary medical support to the victims free of cost.

In the second phase, when the flood water retreats, a few houses will be built and delivered free of cost to the needy people on their land. Obhizatrik Foundation will coordinate and operate all the medical camps, house-making, and distribution under this MoU.
