Hasina sued over killing of rickshaw puller

A case was filed today against 68 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over the killing of rickshaw puller Md Sohagh, who was gunned down in front of icddr,b in the capital’s Mohakhali area.

Sohagh’s father Md Nurul Islam filed a complaint with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib. The court after recording statement of the complainant, asked Banani police station to file the matter as first information report (FIR).

The other prominent accused in the case are- Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, Sheikh Selim, Md Atikul Islam, Chowdhury Abdullah-Al Mamun, Harun-Ur Rashid, Biplab Kumar Sarker and Mohammad A Arafat.

Md Sohagh was shot right in front of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) during anti-discrimination student movement on July 19. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
