RHD consultation meeting held in Sylhet

A consultation meeting was held at Sylhet Road and Highway Department (RHD) office regarding the construction of a modern restroom area with accommodation and parking facilities for drivers of long-distance buses, minibuses, trucks, pickups, and covered vans at 128 km of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Bejura in Madhavpur upazila of Habiganj.

The discussion meeting was held at 3 pm on Wednesday (September 18) in the meeting room of the additional chief engineer’s office of Sylhet Zone, Topkhanastha Roads and Highway Department, Sylhet Zone.

In the discussion meeting organized by Sylhet roads and Highway Department with the participation of the participants, under the chairmanship of Moulvibazar Circle Supervising Engineer Mohammad Jahangir Alam presided over the meeting. Sylhet Road Circle Supervising Engineer Ahsan Uddin Ahmed spoke as a special guest.

Speakers said that drivers drive vehicles for 10 or 12 hours in the country. There is a risk to their health, due to being tired, they often get sleepy eyes, so accidents happen. With the aim of reducing the health risk of drivers, a rest area will be built with a budget of 26 million taka on 7 acres of land at Bejura Namaksthan of Madhavpur Upazila of Habiganj.

The first phase will accommodate 30 vehicles in the rest area. The area will increase later. The four-storey building will have various facilities including first aid, accommodation, rest and vehicle breakdown and security facilities. The government is creating four rest zones as a pilot project across the country. If such modern restrooms are built in line with the world, the quality of transport workers will be improved and road accidents will be reduced
