Workers have returned to work at most of the ready-made garment factories in Ashulia.
Authorities decided to open all factories in Ashulia on Monday. Since Tuesday morning, groups of workers were seen joining the factory in different parts of the industrial area. No incidents of violence or rioting were reported.
Several workers at a ready-made garment factory in the industrial area where production is continuing said that those who are creating chaos in the factory by staging a protest movement are outsiders. They’re doing it from the outside. We want to keep our factories open. I don’t want any confusion. Because if the factory closes, millions of workers like us will be out of work. All of us should return to the factory without supporting such a movement.
The industrial police said that production is still closed in 45 factories. A general holiday has been declared in some factories for safety reasons.
“Sarwar Alam, superintendent of police of Industrial Police-1, said,” “There is no violence anywhere on the street today.” In some factories, work did not start due to infighting or disagreement with the management. However, there will be no scope for any disturbance outside the factory.
Mobile patrol teams of Army, RAB, BGB, district police and industrial police are patrolling the entire area, he added.
