Jumaba is an auspicious day for Muslims. This day with more dignity is called the weekly Eid in the hadith. There is a unique Surah in the Holy Quran called ‘Al Juma’. There are some special practices for believers on Friday in the hadith. One of these practices is reading Darud.

Virtues and dignity of reciting Darood on Friday Reciting blessings upon the beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a virtuous act of worship and reward. He himself has highlighted it in several narrations of hadith-

1. Hazrat Aws Ibn Aws Radiyallahu Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The best of your days is Friday.” So on that day, you pray more and more on me. Because your blessings are presented to me.

The people (the Companions present) said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! You will perish (after death). In that case, how will our blessings be presented to you?

He said, ‘Allah Ta’ala has forbidden the bodies of the Prophets to be eaten on the ground.’

2. Hazrat Ibn Mas’ud Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, ‘On the Day of Resurrection that person will be closer to me than all the people; Who among them will bless me the most.’ (Tirmidhi)

3. Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Amr Radiyallahu Anhuma narrates that he heard Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, ‘Whoever recites Darood on me once, Allah will recite Darood (mercy) on him ten times.’ Tirmidhi, Nasa’i, Abu Dawud, Musnad Ahmad)

4. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam cursed that the nose of that person to whom my name was pronounced, but he (heard my name) did not greet me(That is to say, at least in Arabic, in short, short sentences – “may Allah bless him and grant him peace” or “may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”) (Tirmidhi, Musnad Ahmad)

5. Hazrat Abu Huraira Radiyallahu also narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Do not turn my grave into a festival center (as the grave worshipers hold fairs of Urs etc.).” You offer blessings to me. Because, wherever you are, your prayers reach me(Abu Dawud, Musnad Ahmad)

6. Hazrat Ali Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, ‘The real miser is that person; To whom I was mentioned, that is, my name was mentioned, but he did not recite durood on me.’ (Tirmidhi, Musnad Ahmad)

7. Hazrat Fazla Ibn Ubayd Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam heard a man praying. But he did not praise Allah in it and did not bless the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Seeing this (situation), the Messenger of Allah, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “The man hastened. Then he called him and said to him or to someone else, ‘When one prays, let him begin the prayer by praising his holy Lord and offering salutations and salutations to me; Then he prays whatever he wishes (as usual).’ (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa’i, Musnad Ahmad)

> How to present Darood and Salam?

What is the rule of offering greetings and greetings to Hazrat Muhammad Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam? In what words should it be presented?

1. Hazrat Abdur Rahman Ibn Abu Laila Rahmatullahi Alaihi narrates, Ka’b Ibn Uzra Radiyallahu Anhu met me and said, Shall I not give you such a Hadiya (gift); What I heard from the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam?

I said, yes, you give me that hadiya (gift).

He said, We asked the Messenger of Allah – O Messenger of Allah! How to recite Darood on you ie Ahl al-Bayt? Because Allah has (only) informed us – how shall we greet you!

He (the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace) said, Say:

Pronunciation: ‘Allahumma salli ala Muhammadinu wa ala Ali Muhammad, kama sallaita ala Ibrahim wa ala Ali Ibrahim. Innaka Hamidum Majhid. Allahumma barik ala Muhammadinu wa ala Ali Muhammad, kama barakata ala Ibrahima wa ala Ali Ibrahim. Innaka Hamidum Majhid.’

Meaning: ‘O Allah! May you shower mercy on Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and upon the descendants of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, as you showered mercy on Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and the descendants of Ibrahim, may God bless him and grant him peace. Surely You are highly praised, highly respected.

O Allah! May you bless Muhammad and his progeny; As You have blessed Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the progeny of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Surely you are highly praised, highly respected.(Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Nasa’i, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah in Musnad Ahmad, Darimi)

2. Hazrat Abu Mas’ud Badri Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, We were sitting in the Majlis of Sayad Ibn Ubada Radiyallahu Anhur. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us. Hazrat Bashir Ibn Sa’ad said to him, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Almighty Allah has ordered us to pray for you, but how to pray for you?

The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, remained silent. Finally we hoped, if (Bashir) had not questioned him (it would have been better). After a while Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “You say-pronounce: ‘Allahumma salli ala Muhammadinu wa ala Ali Muhammad, Kama sallaita ala Ali Ibrahim. Wa barik ala muhammadinu wa ala ali muhammad, kama barakata ala ali ibrahimah fil alamin. Innaka Hamidum Majhid.’

Meaning: ‘O Allah! You send salat (mercy) upon Muhammad (pbuh) and the family of Muhammad (pbuh); As Salat (mercy) was offered on the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad (pbuh) and his family; As the world has blessed the family of Ibrahim. Surely You are praised and highly respected. And you know how Salam is.’ (Muslim, Tirmidhi, Nasa’i, Abu Dawud, Musnad Ahmad, Muatta Malek, Daremi)

3. Hazrat Abu Humaid Sa’eedi Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, the people (companions) said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! How shall we greet you?He said, you say-pronounce: ‘Allahumma salli ala Muhammadinu wa azwazhihi wa zurriyatihi kama sallaitha ala Ali Ibrahim; Wa barik ala Muhammadinu wa azwajihi wa zurriyatihi kama barakata ala Ali Ibrahim; Innaka Hamidum Majhid.’

Meaning: ‘O Allah! send salat (mercy) upon Muhammad, his wives and his progeny; As You sent down Salat (mercy) on the progeny of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad, his wives and his progeny; As You have sent down blessings on the progeny of Abraham. Surely you are praised and glorified.(Bukhari and Muslim, Nasa’i, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad, Muatta Malik)

And on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The salutation upon me will be light when the Pulsirat passes.” A person who recites Darud 80 times on Friday will have 80 years of sins forgiven. ‘

In another tradition, the Prophet (peace be upon him)He said, “Whoever recites this Durood Sharif 80 times before rising from his place after Asr prayer on Friday – ‘Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammadinin Nabiyyil Ummiii wa Ala Alihi Wa As Habihi Wasallimu Taslima’.” His sins of 80 years are forgiven and the reward of 80 years of worship is written in his record. ‘-Afjalus Salawat: 26

It is important to remember

Darood is one of the 3 special prayers on Friday. It is important to perform Darood after the Friday prayer. Especially during the time of waiting for Maghrib prayer after Asr on Friday, the virtues of reciting Darud are very high. Also, reciting Surah Kahf on this day and spending any time in worship from Asr to Maghrib is also a special practice.

So the believing Muslim should focus on performing the best deeds of Darood on Friday, the best day of the week. To act under the guidance of Qur’an and Sunnah. Running towards mercy and forgivenessTherefore, a believing Muslim should perform the obligatory prayers on Fridays as well as performing the Nafal prayers and reciting more blessings in the name of the Prophet (peace be upon him). May Allah Ta’ala grant the Muslim Ummah the Tawfeek to spend the day of Friday in deeds and worship. Give tawfiq to do the right deeds on the hadith. Grant the Tawfiq to recite more Darood. Amen.
