Deputy Commissioner Md Tawfiq-e-Lahi Chowdhury has directed an investigation into the shocking news that a freedom fighter’s certificate was forged for about 8 years and three sons and a grandson were given government jobs in Kota.
A three-member committee was also formed. During the investigation at the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the accused confessed to forgery of his NID (National Identity Card and Others’ certificate)Banker Md. Ruhul Amin, son of late Rustam Ali of Charpata Radhavallab area of Daulatkhan Upazila, a real freedom fighter, was also present and showed all the certificates including his message of red liberation.
Banker Ruhul Amin demanded an investigation into the incident and punishment of the fraudster Ruhul Amin, along with the Anti-Corruption Commission,PoliceHeadquarters, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
During the interrogation of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Touhidul Islam, Ruhul Amin Kazi of Velumia Union admitted that he tampered with his father’s name in his National Identity Card (NID) and put Rustum Ali instead of Salamat Kazi in it and submitted it to the social service office for freedom fighter’s allowance. Even the real freedom fighter used the release message number 604060090 of former banker Ruhul Amin and the certificate.
He has been receiving regular allowances since 2013 using these documents. Ali Akbar’s son got a job in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on 26 December 2015 as an office assistant computer operator (in Muktijoddha quota) using the same documents.
In 2016, Mizanur Rahman got a job as a constable under the Superintendent of Police. Mizan is currently working in Tuskhali camp of Matbaria police station in Pirojpur district. Another son, Ali Azgar, is currently working at the PBI in Dhaka. He also apologized to UNO when he handed over Kazi Ruhul Amin of Valumia to the police for the crime of forgery. He was pardoned and demanded to be gazetted again by the freedom fighters. He said he had already applied to the ministry.
Fraudster Ruhul Amin said that during the BNP government in 2006, the former MP of Bhola-2 constituency sent a letter to some freedom fighters to exchange views. At that time he also received an invitation letter. That invitation letter is his only proof as a freedom fighter.
He has no other certificate. He does not know the banker freedom fighter Ruhul Amin. The freedom fighter saw Ruhul Amin, his father Kazi Rustum Ali, in the Gazette address of his former home area and considered it as his certificate. He thinks that his father’s name has been misprinted.
It has not taken any initiative to amend it in the last 15/20 years. However, his current national identity card, his current and permanent address in the voter list is mentioned in Chandra Prasad village of Velumia union of Bhola and his father’s name is also mentioned as Salamat Kazi.
Investigating officer Ruhul Amin was asked to prove that his house was in Charpata area and to prove his involvement in the liberation war.
Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Delwar Hossain, Upazila Election Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman and others were present during the investigation.
