Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon disclosed this, while replying to a question from a treasury bench member MA Awal in the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.
“We have a plan to expand Biman’s new international destinations including Guangzhou of China, Colombo of Sri Lanka and Male of Maldives side by side with reopening New Delhi and Hong Kong routes in 2016,” he said.
The minister also informed the House that the national flag carrier is currently providing service to seven domestic and 15 international flights.
Besides, he said, the ministry would consider introducing Biman’s flight to Narita in Japan from the winter calendar of 2016 on availability of new generation aircraft.
He said Biman would start its New York service with improving the Civil Aviation Category-1, adding, “The government has a target to expand Biman’s Sydney in Australia, Jakarta in Indonesia, Madras and Mumbai in India routes on the base of commercial viability.
