Case filed over BCL clash with jail guards in Sylhet

A case has been filed against 60 unnamed people in connection with the clash between jail guards and chatra league.

Suhel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of the police station said, Masud Parvez Moin filed the case with Kotowali Police Station on Thursday night, So far, the police could not arrest anyone in the case.

on the occasion of the release from prison of former acting president of Sylhet Chatraleague Hiron Mahmud Nipu, a motorcycle showdown   took place by his supporter and chatro league activities at the gate of the prison.

Being Delays the process of granted bail of Nipu, Charta League activists trying to forcibly enter the main gate of the prison. The guards tried to resist them but Chhatra League activists clashed with them. Ten people including three journalists were injured in a clash between ruling party Awami League’s student body Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and guards of Sylhet prison in the city on Thursday evening.

Among them, three were journalists, namely- Anis Mahmud of Prathom Alo, HM Shahidul of Sokaler Khobor and Mamun Hossain of local Jugovery.

hearing the news that former acting president of District BCL Hiran Mahmud Nipu got bail form court in the afternoon, Nipu’s followers came to the prison gate and made hue and cry. They locked into an argument with the guards as they were asked to be silent. BCL activists vandalized several motorbikes parked at the gate area,

witnesses said. Later, additional police came to the spot and took the situation under control.
