Charge sheet filed against 28  submitted in court ctgmap, Chittagong

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday  submitted charge sheet against 28 persons  including supreme court lawyer Barrister Shakila Farzana, daughter of former whip and BNP leader Syed Wahidul Alam for financing a militant group Hamza Brigade and recovery of firearms, hand bombs, explosives and training equipments from Banskhali upazila in Chittagong .

RAB, assistant director Ruhul Amin and also investigation officer of the case confirmed that he submitted a charge sheet before the Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate Court through the prosecution section of the court on Sunday afternoon.The names of 102 witnesses were mentioned in the charge sheet, he added. Among the charge sheeted accused persons 21 are in jail out of 28, he added.The charge Sheet was submitted under the Anti-terrorism act after approval of the government, the IO said.

RAB unearthed a militants’ training camp of Shahid Hamza Brigrade at Lotmoni Hill of Sadanpur village under Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong and arrested five people along with huge amount of firearms, a large number of hand bombs, explosives and training equipment on February 28 in 2015, court sources said.

Later on August 18, in 2015, three lawyers, including Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Shakila Farzana, her juniors Advocate Hasanuzzaman Liton and Advocate Mahfuj Chowdhury Bapon were arrested from Dhanmondi area of Dhaka on charge of providing financial support to the militant organization Shaheed Hamza Brigade.

12 kgs hemp recovered

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 12 kilograms of hemp from Chittagong Railway Station area on Saturday night.Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-7 recovered the hemp from the platform of the station in abandoned state at around 10 pm on Saturday.
RAB sources said sensing the presence of RAB members the drug peddlers left the place leaving the drug.


2 women Yaba traders held  

Chittagong district Police in a raid arrested two women Yaba traders with 1,000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from College gate area under Chandanaish upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The arrestees were identified as Anwara Begum,48, and Parvin Akter,30, both hailing from Teqnaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

On receipt of secret information, a team of Chandanaish thana police raided a Chittagong bound passenger bus coming  from Cox’s bazaar and arrested them with 1,000 pieces contraband Yaba tablets at 11 pm  Saturday night, said Gazi Mohammad Shawkat Hossain, officer in charge of Chandhanaish thana. A case was filed uder narcotics act  in this connection.

Hefazat declares nationwide  protest rally on Friday

Hefazat Islam Bangladesh announces countrywide protest rally and  procession programs on Friday next demanding the  dismissal of writ petition against the state religion Islam and safequard the Islam in constitution. The rally will be arranged on north gateof Chittagong Shahi Jame Mosque on Friday after Juma prayer. This was declared by the organizing secretary of Hefazat Islam Moulana Azizul Hoque Islamabadi at press meet arranged at chittagong press club yesterday afternoon. Moulana Azizul Hoque Islamabadi read out the written statement before the journos at the meet. The press meet was told that the word of socalled  ‘secularism’ and ‘socialism’ were  not included in the proclamation of independence  of April 10 ,1971 . Moulana Islamabadi  urges the High court to eliminate the  writ against  state religion  so published in the cause list of March 27 next  for the  better interest of the majority community   of the country  showing respect to the religious perceptions and consciousness. He said none will be allowed to play game  in mud water  taking this issue  . . Secretary general of Hefazat Allama Junaid Babunagari answered to the barrel of questions of the journos in the meet.
Among others, senior Nayebe Amir Allama Shah Mahibullah Babunagari , joint secretary Moulana Moinuddin Ruhi, asstt. Finance secretary Moulana Ishaque Meheri were present in the press meet.

Mentionable that Hefazat Islam also  staged demonstration demanding dismissal  of writ that filed before the High court against state region Islam  on Friday   last   at Hathazari in Chittagong after Juma prayer. A protest procession also brought out in Hathazari sadar in connection. A rally after termination of procession duly presided  by central member of Hefazat Islam and General secretary of Hathazari Olema Parishad Moulana Jafar Ahmed .

In the brief rally, Babunagri said the existing peace  and the communal harmony  of the country will be jeopardized if the state religion Islam is abrogated from the constitution .The speakers in the rally demanded  immediate dismissal  of the controversial writ from the High court  cause list  otherwise  Hefazat will  launch tougher movement .The speakers said  a vested quarter is conspiring to destroy the  existing  communal harmony of the country through filing a writ against state religion, sources said.
