Foolproof security taken  in Ctg  over Independence Day celebrations

Chittagong Metropolitan and district police has taken foolproof security measures in the city and district to ensure smooth celebration of national independence day today . Check-posts will be set up at every entry and exit points for making the security foolproof. All entry and exit points of the port city are being monitored round-the-clock.  Police and RAB personnel would keep close watch during the Independence Day programmes across the district smoothly.

RAB personnel will be deployed in close proximity of the check-posts and they will extend security assistance to police, besides protecting all key point installations (KPIs) in and around the port city.

The entire city’s important tourists spots and places like Foy’s Lake, Patenga Sea Beach, Chittagong Zoo, Swadhinata Park, Chittagong Port, Naval Museum and Shishu Park which will draw hundreds of visitors be brought under closed surveillance.

Besides, different agencies have been directed to conduct block raids in different guesthouses, slums and crime points in the city. Strong vigil on highways and streets will be maintained, the sources said.

A number of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed at the Chittagong Circuit House and around the whole Stadium area to monitor the situation round-the-clock before and after the Independence Day programmes scheduled there by the district administration.

Law-enforcing agencies including police, RAB and intelligence wings have been asked to remain alert across the city and district to prevent any untoward incident during different programmes of different  political parties and  socio-cultural organizations beside the govt and non-govt agencies  to    mark  the Independence Day in a festivity mood and colourful celebration.


Rape attempt foiled, CNG driver held

Local people rounded up one CNG driver  red handed while trying to rape a young  female physicians in Chittagong  on Thursday night. The incident occurred at Forest gate area under Panchalaish thana . Locals handed over CNG driver Md. Jamshed to police instantly. While contacted police sub-inspector Nuruzzaman told that  26 years old  young physician of a private hospital  hired a CNG taxi from GEC crossing aimed at reaching her residence in Kunjuchaya residential area under Baizid thana but due to heavy traffic jam, the CNG driver diverted his tax through the Forest hill road  and after reaching a remote hill area , CNG driver forcibly tried to rape her . Following the hue and cry of the physician, the night guard of the forest hill and the locals rushed to the spot and rescued her.  Local people handed over the  driver to police instantly and a  rape case also registered before the Panchalaish thana by the victim, sources said.


OC withdrawn from CMP thana in Ct

Officer In-Charge   Moinul Islam has been withdrawn from  Sadarghat thana under CMP  for alleged  involved in physical  torturing  to a  former central  BCL leader Abdur Rahim Jillu recently. Moinul Islam has been deputed in Dampara police line as punishment , sources said. Officer Incharge (Investigation) Morzina Akhter assigned the charge of OC accordingly.CMP commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol issued this office circular on Thursday . Court sources said  former leader of the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Wednesday filed a case against four policemen including Officer-in-Charge (OC) of a police station in the city on charges of ‘torturing’ the former BCL leader.Abdur Rahim Jillu, a former Deputy Environmental Affairs Secretary of the central committee of BCL, filed the case against city’s Sadarghat police station OC Moinul Islam Bhuiyan, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Salek and two unidentified cops of the police station.

The plaintiff in his case filed with the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Farid Alam claimed that the policemen beat him and hurt his nose in front of his wife at a residential hotel at city’s Sadarghat area on March 19 last. “Later, the OC took the couple to the police station and ordered to send them to the court on charges of antisocial activities”, plaintiff’s defense lawyer Advocate Akbar Ali said.
