A disciplined effort in the field enabled Bangladesh to restrict Pakistan to 227 after 50 overs in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier match at P Sara Oval, Colombo today.
Bangladesh captain Rumana Ahmed captured three wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs while Khadija Tul Kubra and Salma Khatun chipped in with two wickets each to peg back the Pakistani batters. Although Pakistan enjoyed a 76-run opening stand in 18.5 overs, they lost three wickets in a hurry and were on the back-foot at 3-78.
The fourth wicket stand of 69 in 14.4 overs followed by the sixth wicket partnership of 49 in 8.3 helped Pakistan reach the challenging total at the P Sara Oval.
For Pakistan, Bismah Maroof, Rabiya Shah, Ayesha Zafar and Aliya Riaz all got out in the thirties. Bismah’s 35 in 52 balls contained four hits to the fence. Rabiya and Aliya wielded the long-handle for some quick runs in the end.
