A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday fined a sweetmeat and bakery factory in Patia upazila Tk 15 lakh for making biscuit and vermicelli with harmful ingredients and in unhygienic environment, reports news agency UNB.
The RAB mobile court, led by executive magistrate Sarowar Alam, conducted a drive at a factory of Banaful, a famous bakery and sweetmeat producer, at Huline area of Patiya upazila on Friday noon and found that the food factory was using burnt oil to make biscuit and vermicelli in an unhygienic environment.
Among the ingredients for making the dough, harmful ammonia was used, said the executive magistrate.
The mobile court seized 83 sacks of ammonia – each weighing 25 kg – from the factory, he added.
Earlier on 5 January, a sweetmeat factory of Banaful in Shershah area of port city Chittagong was fined Tk 15 lakh for using condensed sugar, lead in making sweetmeat.
