Cyclone Nada likely to cross Indian coast

A depression formed+ over the southwest Bay of Bengal gained strength on Wednesday morning to become a cyclone called Nada and it was situated 730km east-southeast off Puducherry coast.

“The cyclone is likely to cross the Tamil Nadu coast – between Vedaranyam and Puducherry (mostly in Cuddalore) — by December 2 morning. Chennai and coastal districts of Tamil Nadu will receive rain from Thursday morning,” Chennai IMD area cyclone warning director S Balachandran told TOI.

The rainfall will intensify first in coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Later interior districts will get rain.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

The cyclone is named Nada by Oman as per the cyclone naming convention followed by the South Asian countries.
