A huge fire has erupted in a warehouse at the Benapole land port on the India-Bangladesh border, reports bdnews24.com
Benapole is the busiest land port, through which much of the bilateral trade between the two neighbours takes place.
Fire service officials said one of the sheds at the warehouse caught fire around 6am on Sunday.
Eye-witnesses said smoke is still billowing out of that shed and the fire can still be seen.
At one stage, the fire spread and engulfed the police station at Benapole land port.
Four fire fighting units from Benapole, Jhikargacha and Jessore have rushed to tame the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Seventy to 80 percent of India-Bangladesh bilateral trade through land passes through the Benapole port.
As many as 1.2 million passport holders travel between the two countries through Benapole and 150,000 trucks carry goods every year.
