Sedition case against Tarique for calling Sheikh Mujib ‘Pakbandhu’

A sedition case has been filed against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as “Pakbandhu (Friend of Pakistan)”.

Advocate Moshiur Malik, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate‘s (CMM) court on Sunday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Nur recorded Moshiur‘s statement in the morning and the court order in this regard likely to be announced later.

According to the case statement, on September 29 this year at a discussion at York Hall in East Landon, Tarique said, “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not ‘Bangabandhu’, rather than he is ‘Pakbandhu’.”

Tarique also said, “He (Sheikh Mujib) had not made the announcement of independence. So, he cannot be the father of the nation, he is a killer.”
