Sylhet city dwellers face health problem

in winter due to air pollution

Air pollution is excessive in Sylhet in winter season. So people face health problem. At this time excess of Ozone, Carbon, Sulphar exist in air. According to environment directorate in the air of Sylhet AQI is 109 ppm last year it was 87 ppm. Ratio of increase in 22 ppm qf AQI is 101 to 150 ppm it is called ‘warning air’ which is harmful for human body. It present rate of changing AQi prevails is Sylhet very soon it will be reach in unhealthy stage.

Experts said people of Sylhet City attached mostly with dust unplanned urbanisation, quick road digging, carrying construction material without proper care are mainly responsible for it.

Momota project of serve the children project Manager Dr. Laki Akther said, dust band disease increasing Sylhet in an alarming rate. For this T.B. Asthma and Lungs Cancer affect old, in front person. If we not take proper action in future Sylhet is a place where none cannot able to live.

Under environment directorate ‘Sustainable air and fresh environment’ project take step to test the quality of dust. They set observing station. By there all time review is continuing.


Bus-van collided at Osmaninagar

along Sylhet- Dhaka Highway


At least 15 persons have been injured at 9-30 p.m. on Sylhet-Dhaka Highway in front of Osmaninagar Upazila Police Building.

It has been learnt from Osmaninagar UZ Police Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman and the locals that a Dhaka brand bus belongs to Shayamali Paribahan (Transport) and a Van of Quality Ice-cream collided head-on resulting in at least 15 persons injured. UP police, Highway Police and Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot, recovered the injured persons and sent them to hospitals. Police seized the two vehicles and lodged a case in this connection.


Old woman killed when

motor-cycle dashed her


Salan Begum (65) has been dashed and run over by a motor-cycle, resulting in brutal death to her at 10.30 yesterday (Saturday). It has been learnt that the deceased of Shibnagar (Majorkup) on way to her daughter’s house at Bayampur reached by pass road side. She was instantly dashed by a motor-cycle that ranway. The locals rushed to the spot and admitted to Kanaighat Upazila Health Complex front where he was referred to Sylhet M.A.G Osmani Medical College Hospital.
