UNDP Bangladesh on Saturday launched the National Youth Innovation Challenge Funds to raise awareness on earthquake preparedness.
Under the programme, Young innovators across Bangladesh (Approx. 800 youths) submitted 210 proposals in teams from different universities, colleges, youth organizations.
In the final round, top 10 teams presented their innovative ideas in front of the jury members, said a press release.
Youth teams competed for challenge funds of two categories: Challenge Fund One ‘The ShakeIt App’ and Challenge Fund Two ‘Cracks in the Campus’.
YouthQuake winners of both challenged funds received $3000 and runners up received $2000 to implement their innovative ideas in collaboration with UNDP Bangladesh, Ministry of Disaster Management Relief (MoDMR) and Access to Information (A2i).
Md. Shah Kamal, Secretary of MoDMR chaired the jury along with members Sudipto Mukerjee Country Director UNDP Bangladesh, Md. Mustafizur Rahman Director of Innovation A2i, Khurshid Alam Assistant Country Director, Climate Change and environment Resilience.
Shah Kamal said, “We believe your campaign content and materials will help us to raise awareness on earthquake preparedness. We believe in your innovation.”
