Sounds of gunfire were heard as prisoners locked in a clash with the jail guards at the Chattogram Central Jail this afternoon.
The incident started at 2:00pm on Friday.
The jail guards opened fire to control the situation when a section of prisoners staged demonstrations and tried to break open a room at the jail, an official of Chattogram Metropolitan Police said preferring anonymity.
A team of army men rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, he added.
