A two-and-a-half-year-old child named Taslima died after drowning in Longadu in Rangamati.

The incident took place at Maldwip village in Sonai area of Mainimukh union of the upazila on Thursday (August 29) afternoon.

Deceased Taslima Akhter is the younger daughter of boat driver Kadir Hossain of Maldwip village of Sonai areaThe father of the deceased child said that on Thursday afternoon I came from the market and brought biscuits for them.

They were playing in the next room while they were eating and I was working in the other room. I could not hear their voices. Then I called the girl and asked her where Taslima had gone to the river bank. I started shouting without finding it.

After searching in the water without finding him around, he was found underwater after a while.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Longadu Police Station Md. Harunor Rashid said, we have received the news of the child’s death. It is said that he died after falling into the water while playing on the bank of the pond near the house.
