Charghat BNP President exchanges views with journalists

Zakirul Islam Bikul, President of the Charghat Upazila BNP and former Mayor of Charghat Municipality, held a meeting with all journalists working in Charghat Upazila.

The meeting took place at 11 am on Saturday in his office.

During the meeting, Zakirul Islam Bikul stated that over the past 15 years of Awami League rule, genuine journalists have faced various forms of harassment while publishing news. However, according to the directives of BNP’s leaders and our national leader Tarique Rahman, journalists and ordinary people should maintain good relations and work towards the country’s development. He requested journalists to highlight the misrule, irregularities, and corruption of the Awami League government through their reporting.

Speeches were given at the meeting by Mohammad Mozammel Haque, President of Charghat Upazila Press Club (Daily Sonali Sangbad); Obaidul Islam Robi, President of Charghat Reporters’ Unit (District Correspondent for The Asian Age and Dhaka Pratidin); Mohammad Kamruzzaman, President of Charghat Press Club (Daily Manabzamin); Sony Azad, General Secretary of Charghat Press Club (Daily Samakal); Babar Ali, General Secretary of Charghat Upazila Press Club (Daily Lakh Kontho); and Mohammad Ismail Haque, General Secretary of Charghat Reporters’ Unit (The Country Today).

Others present included Israel Hossain (Amader Arthoneeti), Sajib Islam (Pratidiner Sangbad), Shahinur Rahman Sujon (Pratidiner Bangladesh), Saiful Islam Raihan (Uttara Pratidin), Zillur Rahman (Amader Rajshahi), Istiaq Ahmed (Somoyer Alo), Mousumi Das (Sonali Somoy), Abu Hanif (Daily Barta), Khorshed Alam (The Asian Age), and Somrat Ali (Prothom Surjodoy).
