Bangladeshi teen girl killed by BSF along Moulvibazar border

A Bangladeshi teenage girl was killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar on Sunday night.

The incident occurred in the Lalarchak border area of Sharifpur Union under the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Swarna Das, 16, daughter of Parendra Das of Kalnigar village under Juri upazila in the district.

It is reported that the BSF took the body away.

On Monday evening, when a team from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 46 Battalion visited Swarna’s home, the news spread in the area.

Naik Obaid, the patrol commander of Lalarchak BOP of BGB’s 46th Battalion, said one of them was killed by BSF gunfire when several Bangladeshis attempted to enter India illegally.

Binoy Bhuson Roy, officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station, said no one had reported the incident yet, but they are working to confirm the matter.
