Case filed against ex-BCB director Sheikh Sohel

A case was filed against former Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Sheikh Sohel, 55, with Khulna Court on charge of extortion Taka 60 lakh from a businessman in the city on Tuesday.
The other prime accused of the case are the then executive engineer of LGED of Khulna Abul Kalam Md Anisuzzaman and five to six unidentified people.
Sheikh Shahidul Islam, owner of M/s, S R Traders, electronic goods traders, of city’s Hard Metal Gallary, filed the case against as the plaintiff, advocate S M Masudur Rahman, lawyer of the complainant S M Masudur Rahman confirmed to BSS.
Md Tariqul Islam, Judicial Magistrate of Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 ordered to include the case with Sonadanga Police Station and investigate it, the lawyer said.
According to case, the plaintiff alleged that Sheikh Sohel, a presidium member of Jubo League and also cousin of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with other accused extortion Taka 60 lakh from him at gun point at Sohel’s residence in the city on April 23 in 2024.
