Murder case against 700 people including Sheikh Hasina in Chattogram

A case has been filed against 700 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader in Chittagong for killing a protesting student. Apart from former ministers and MPs, the accused include IGP, police officers and journalists.
Azizul Haque, a friend of Hridoy Taruya, who died in the anti-discrimination student movement at Chandgaon police station on Friday night, filed the case as a plaintiff. Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin confirmed the matter. He said, “206 people have been mentioned as accused in the case filed in Chandgaon police station. Apart from this, 500 unidentified people have been accused.
It is said in the statement of the case, Hriday Tarua, a student of history department of Chittagong University, participated in the anti-discrimination student movement. On the orders of some of the accused, the protesting students were attacked and fired upon. Armed with weapons, many of the accused joined the attack. On July 18, Hridoy was admitted to the hospital when he was injured in the firing in Chandgaon area of the city. He later died on July 23 in Dhaka while undergoing treatment.
Other notable accused are Sheikh Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan, former Member of Parliament ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Anisul Islam Mahmud, former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim ChowdhuryAnd AJM Nashir Uddin, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former DIG of Chittagong Range Noore Alam Meena, former City Police Commissioner Saiful Islam, then Superintendent of Police of Chittagong District SM Shafiullah, former OC of Kotwali Police Station Mohammad Mohsin, Panchlaish. Former police station OC Abul KashemGeneral Secretary of Bhuiyan and Chittagong Press Club Devdulal Bhowmik. Most of the 206 accused named in the case are Awami League leaders and activists.
