Some 15 thousand people are still trapped in Rangamati due to heavy rains and water coming down from upstream for quite some time. 2 thousand 100 hectares of cropland has been submerged in flood water. Among them, more agricultural land has been lost in Baghaichari, Longadu and Nanyarchar. The financial loss of which is about 44 crore taka.

18 thousand cusecs of water is being released every second through 16 cisterns of Kaptai Hydroelectric Station. The water holding capacity of the lake is 109 MSL but the water in the lake is 108.62 MSL.Even though the water has started receding, several villages of Longadu, Naniarchar, Barkal, Jurachhari, Bilaichhari in the district are still submerged. Even though the water has started receding, the low-lying homesteads, agricultural land and roads are still under water.

Tapan Kumar Pal, additional director of Rangamati region said, about 2 thousand 100 hectares of cropland has been destroyed in the district due to this flood. About 11,000 farmers have been affected. Several crops including Aush, Mango, Summer Vegetables, Ginger, Turmeric. The financial loss is about 44 crore rupees.

He also said that in Baghaichhari upazila 1 thousand 341, Longdu 305, Naniyachar 126 decimal 6, Sadar 97 decimal 79, Barkal 48, Kaukhali 47, Jurachhari 47 decimal 2, Bilaichhari 44, Kaptai 43 hectares of land were damaged.

In the event of water subsidence, early crop cultivation has been planned for borer, corn, mustard, sunflower, and many other vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, brinjal, tomato as winter vegetables in the affected land.

According to the information of Rangamati district administration, although the water has started to recede, still about 15 thousand people are trapped in water. 92 metric tons of food grains have been allocated in 10 upazilas, but 47 metric tons have been distributed
