Father, son among 3 killed in bus-truck collision on Bangabandhu bridge

Three people, including a man and his son, were killed and at least 10 others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on Bangabandhu bridge in Sirajganj early Saturday (September 7).
The incident happened at about 5:30AM on the pillar no 13 of the bridge.
The deceased were identified as Rahis Uddin, his son Ripu, 26, residents of Pipulbaria area in Sadar upazila; and Sukhant Shekhar of the same upazila.
Abdul Quader Jilani, officer in-charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, confirmed the accident news.
The driver of a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to Dhaka Express lost control over the steering and hit a truck from behind on the bridge, leaving three passengers of the bus died on the spot, he added.
The movement of vehicles on the bridge have been suspended for an hour following the accident.
After removing the damaged vehicles from the bridge the vehicular movement became normal.
